How She Move

How She Move
Director: Ian Iqbal Rashid
Main Characters: Rutina Wesley (as Raya Green), Tre Armstrong (as Michelle), Dwain Murphy (as Bishop), Cle Bennett (as Garvey), Conrad Coates (as David Green, Raya's Dad) and Ingrid Gaynor (as Pam Green, Raya's Mom).

Raya a very smart intellectual girl attends a private school out side of her town and away from her family. Where Raya's mom and dad and sister and herself live is in a bad neighborhood where allot of violence and drugs are all over the place like air. Raya can't watch her sister all the time and can't see if she gets near gangs, into drugs, friends with the wrong people, partying to much, etc. Her sister ended up dying from a drug addiction. Following after that Raya is forced to leave her private school and return to her old, crime-filled neighborhood where she re-kindles a forgotten passion for the competitive world of stepping. She catches up with her old friends goes to the old school once again starting off like a new girl. Step dancing is a thing everyone does around there, always showing off or competing. At lunch three cheerleaders step and act like there the shit and rule the school, These girls are: Michelle, Latoya, and Stacy; and are not to fond of Raya. Raya sees her old friend and lover Bishop performing with his crew and a guy who her sister always hung out with, Garvey. She practices stepping until it hurts so bad she can't move; she finds out about this stepping competition that all the dance crews join and compete in. She asks the captain of this one crew "JSJ" who is Bishop and he says that he can't let a girl in but he auditions her in anyways. She ends up getting in but a guy drops out because of her. Michelle is captain of a girl crew "Phem Phatal" and gets mad that Raya didn't want to be in her crew. So since Michelle always goes into the warehouse where they practice at she stole their same music and moves. So when they go to a little competition Michelle's group goes first and Bishop is pissed but says "lets show them what dun right looks like". So they do and Raya a good freestyler thinks they aren't doing so well doing that same song people are starting to boo. Raya freestyles leaving everyone else not knowing what to do and they stop and it makes it worse. Bishop pissed off kicks her off the team. Bishop has a brother but treats him like shit, a geek, a slave, and thinks he doesn't know how to dance; but little does he know his brother is a really great dancer, writes down allot of moves that he thinks of up in his head, and watches all the moves his brother and his crew practice so he knows everything. So Raya crew-less; See's Garvey a captain of another crew called "Kin Dreadz. He says "I see your in need of a crew Raya, you know my door is always open. Out there i saw you're stepping like a girl who needs to win, not a girl who wants to win"? She gets on his crew and when Bishop finds out he feels so betrayed but he is the one to let her go. Pam Green Raya's mother is a very strict women and Stern, she doesn't want Raya to get into any trouble or into that stuff, so Raya hides it from her mother. This dance competition that Raya is trying so hard to be in and win is a grand prize of $50,000 for the team winner. Her family needs the money and she doesn't want to be in this town no more so this is why Raya lies to her mother and says she is going on a school trip, but instead she is going to the stepping competition. When she starts the competition she is on "Kin Dreadz Dance Crew". But the next level in the competition a whole bunch of family drama happens involving Garvey and Raya, the confrontation is over her sister and a locket she used to always wear. She gets the locket back and meaning so much to her she still sells in needing the money and goes and gives it to the "JSJ Crew" to try and get them back in and on their good side because they needed money as well to keep going in the competition. So now she is with them and she tell Bishop about his brother and they end up coming up with the best choreography ever. Using a car as a prop, the car was used from the warehouse because bishop also works on cars so he is a mechanic. The ending of this movie is awesome, there is sick moves, intense skill, curiosity on who is going to win, friendship builds, the mom finds Raya and they end up working things out, and an irresistible smile come across your face reaching from ear to ear. I love this movie. I recommend this a hundred percent, do WATCH! I love Raya's challenges and her accomplishments, her perseverance, the happiness at the end and my main thing IS YOU CAN DO ANYTHING YOU SET YOUR MIND TO NO MATTER WHAT OR HOW IMPOSSIBLE YOU MAY THINK IT IS, and at the end i guarantee you will feel so proud of yourself and so up brought from that experience and this movie makes you feel like you can do anything, you can push for what you need and what you want threw anything. In this case it wasn't i need a job its she worked hard on her studies, tried and makes peoples' life better and their education better, she tried making family better, got excepted into college, and won the money she needed by doing something she loved and showed all her emotion and passion threw dance. Amazing!!!

I rate this movie 10 STEPS out of 10 STEPS.
